The skies are heavy with ominous clouds...biting cold air envelops our bodies...and the trees are ablaze with color. It's late October--time for pumpkins, ghouls, and witches to come out and scare innocent souls, in search for a treat. Of course, we're talking about Halloween, that most frightening time of year. West Michigan is not only beautiful in October, but there are plenty of events going on to satisfy the timid...and those that dare to be scared!Local Corn Mazes

Spooky Area Events
Scarecrows on Parade, Ludington. Area residents and businesses are invited to decorate scarecrows and have them on display. Judging will be in four categories, and a Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt will be added this year as an incentive to get people out, view the scarecrows and visit local businesses. Sponsored by the Ludington Area Arts Council, in cooperation with Scottville Main Street, Ludington/Scottville Chamber of Commerce, CVB, and Downtown Ludington Board.
October-Fridays & Saturdays, (beginning Oct. 8) from 7:30-10:30pm, plus Halloween Night, Manistee's Ghost Ship on the S.S. City of Milwaukee historic carferry. Every October, this 77-year old ship is the venue for a thrilling and scary adventure. Travel through five decks and 72 stairs, some quite steep. Supervised child waiting area. October 30: Trick or Treating Bring the kids downtown Ludington from 1-3pm to visit local businesses and pick up goodies along the way.
October 30: Halloween Spooktacular & Parade, noon-6pm, Village Green in Pentwater. Parade will be at 4pm.
